GRAND EGYPTIAN MUSEUM OPENING CEREMONY
A Landmark Celebration of Culture, Art, and Technology
On November 1, 2025, the world turned its gaze to Cairo for the pharaonic opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) — the largest archaeological museum ever built, and the world’s biggest museum dedicated entirely to a single civilization.
As Cairo lit up, the ceremony welcomed royalty, international leaders, and millions of viewers worldwide, united in awe of Egypt’s cultural legacy and echoed across major global media in an inspiring global moment.
For this historic occasion, Dirty Monitor was commissioned to create an exceptional video mapping performance on the museum’s monumental 387-meter-long façade, as well as on the Obelisk of Ramses II, a priceless emblem of Egypt’s ancient heritage.
Our large-scale video mapping show on the iconic architecture turned it into a powerful storytelling canvas celebrating the great figures and foundational moments of Ancient Egypt — from Ramses II, the greatest of the pharaohs, to Tutankhamun, the most famous, and the epic saga of pyramid construction.
The experience was further enhanced by drone performances, lighting design, and laser effects delivered by international partners, creating a rich, multi-layered spectacle broadcast across global media.
Through this video mapping performance, Dirty Monitor is proud to have left a small luminous trace in the eternal story of Egypt — as a fusion of cultural heritage, art and technology.
